The History of Nothing
By Glenn Thomas Carson, Ph.D.

What if we were to write the history of nothing?  First, we would want to thoroughly research our topic, taking detailed notes along the way, and then write up our paper, being sure that we left nothing out of nothing.

On completion of the project, we might want to turn our attention to the history of something.  Again, our research, notes, and writing would follow their course until we were certain that we had made something out of something.

But what if we really wanted to challenge ourselves?  Well, we would get down to the difficult work of making something out of nothing.  We would start with a blank page, fire up our Muse, and let new and fresh ideas flow forth until the page was full from top to bottom, and margin to margin.  It would be bold and daring and full of all the energy we could bring.  That would really be something.

Something from nothing?  It's what God does all the time.  And it is what the Spirit is empowering us to do, so that our work in the Church will become something so rare that we will have seen nothing like it.

Got a blank page ready?
